The teen years can be full of angst and moments of uncertainty when it comes to self esteem in girls. Boost your confidence and learn how to look and feel great during the teen years.

From Quick Guide: Have a Super Sweet Sixteen
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Embrace your own sense of style. Not everyone can have super model looks, but everyone can have a neat, well-groomed appearance while sporting their own individual look. Determine a hairstyle and clothing trend that suits your body and face type and helps you portray your sense of self to the world. Striving to look like your friends or the latest model in a magazine can leave you feeling inadequate. Try to be the best you can be without following every trend. Your friends will admire your sense of individuality and your self esteem will get a boost from being your authentic self when it comes to your appearance.

  2. Step 2

Take good care of your skin. Teens are prone to acne and breakouts which can prevent you from looking and feeling your best. Wash your face daily with a product intended to promote clear skin, and see a dermatologist if you suffer from more than a slight case of acne. If you do experience a breakout, use a light oil-free concealer and keep your fingers off of the blemishes to avoid scarring and spreading the bacteria to healthy areas of your face.

  3. Step 3

Flaunt a healthy lifestyle. Staying active is good for your mind and your body. Eat properly and exercise frequently. Engage in activities with your friends that keep you moving. Go for walks or bike rides with friends rather than sitting in front of the television, and propose outings and dates that are active rather than passive. A hike in the park or a game of bowling can be just as fun as dinner and a movie, and it keeps your body fit and your mind sharp.

  4. Step 4

Address problems head-on. Teenagers suffer from a great deal of pressure from parents, friends and school. Make an effort to head off problems in your life before they get too big to handle. Talk with your parents about issues before they blow up. Nip social problems between friends in the bud. Have honest communication with your teachers to avoid friction. This helps you learn healthy relationship skills as a teenager, while minimizing drama and emotional upheaval in your life. Less stress means a healthier and happier life, allowing you to feel great.
