Most people know that it is beneficial to get a hairstyle that compliments your body shape. However, you might not have known that your hairstyle should go with your body type as well. Follow these steps to get hair that goes with your specific body type.

  1. Step 1

Stand in front of a tall mirror and assess your body type. Decide if you are short, medium or tall. See if you are petite, slender or a little larger then average.

  2. Step 2

Know that tall and slender women should not have a short hairstyle. This will create the illusion that you are taller than you really are and that your head is smaller. Hair that is at least chin length or longer will be best. Soft and wavy hair that has a bit of bounce will look nice.

  3. Step 3

Understand that if you are small and petite, having long hair can dominate your entire look, and not in a good way. Long hair will make you look smaller. Instead, try for a sleek bob cut in a modern and sophisticated way. Be careful not to go too short, though, or you might end up looking too boyish.

  4. Step 4

Realize that long straight hair doesn't complement a curvy body either. It drapes over curves, bringing attention to them. However, wavy or curly hair in a medium to long length will help balance out the curves of your body, making them less noticeable.

  5. Step 5

Remember that if you have a boyish figure already without any curves, you will need to stay away from styles that are very short. These will only accentuate the boyish image. Long, straight hair styled in a very feminine fashion will look best on you.

  6. Step 6

Keep attention away from your bust if it's larger than average. Focus attention on your hair instead. Try to avoid wearing your hair up, because this brings it out of the way and makes your chest more noticeable. Try wearing your hair down instead. Long and wavy styles are good for this body type.
