Freestyle skiing and snowboarding are physically challenging and exhilarating sports that are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. If you want to progress in a skiing terrain park, ever-increasing numbers of ski resorts are creating bigger and better spaces dedicated to helping skiers and boarders hone their skills.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Get the right gear. Warm and waterproof clothing is a must, as are the right skis or snowboard, boots and bindings. Depending on your current level of expertise, it may be time to upgrade. Different types of snowboarding require different types of boards; likewise, skiing technologies are continually changing and improving. Prescription goggles can maximize your vision and a helmet is a must as you perform increasingly complex maneuvers at greater speeds.
Step2
Take a lesson, or better yet, a series of lessons. There is always something new to learn. If you are interested in competing, a qualified instructor can assess your abilities and then help you improve your technique and correct weaknesses so that you can progress more rapidly in your skiing or snowboarding.
Step3
Follow "smart style" rules at all times and any additional safety and conduct rules posted by the skiing terrain park. You will not progress if you lose your pass for the day because you were skiing or boarding out of control. You will also not make progress if you injure yourself.
Step4
Learn to use all the features of the skiing terrain park. Progress to increasingly challenging fun boxes, rails, pipes, rollers, spines, hips, step-ups and step-downs. Practice spins, grabs, slides or grinds, and other stunts regularly.
Step5
Travel to other resorts. Every skiing and boarding experience in different altitudes and conditions presents an opportunity to advance. Experiment with each skiing terrain park's unique features.
