Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Take a deep breath before you respond.
Step2
Make sure you didn't misunderstand him. Ask calmly for clarification about the comment. Perhaps he meant something different and just phrased it badly, or perhaps he wasn't thinking what he did or said was an insult.
Step3
Let him know what he said or did hurt your feelings. Try to avoid crying or yelling; just tell him that you didn't appreciate what he said or did and that you'd prefer he doesn't say or do it again.
Step4
Arrange some time apart. If the comment really bothers you, ask for some space. Go for a walk by yourself, listen to some music or just get some space so you can get over the insult.
Step5
Move on. One of the worst things you can do is overanalyze the comment or action. If he cares about you, chances are, he didn't mean it. Discuss it calmly and then let it go. Don't hold a grudge or bring it up a few days later.
