Permanent marker is the last thing you want to see on your whiteboard. If you use a harsh cleaner to get it off, you could damage the whiteboard's finish. There are couple of easy solutions to the troublesome problem.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Expo Dry Erase Marker
  • Non-acetone nail polish remover
  • Cloth
  1. Step 1

Use an Expo Dry Erase Marker and draw over the permanent marker. These are available at almost any shopping center. Use your dry eraser to erase the mark and it should come right off. This works best if the permanent marker is dry but under a week old.

  2. Step 2

Put a little non-acetone fingernail polish remover on a clean cloth and wipe the permanent marker. If you use a remover that has acetone in it, you can damage the finish on the whiteboard.

  3. Step 3

Rub lightly over any remaining marks on the board. If your board is inexpensive, you may rub a little of the finish off if you press to hard.

  4. Step 4

Wash the whiteboard thoroughly after you remove the permanent marker. You must completely remove all the residue from cleaning. Any leftover residue on the whiteboard could alter the board's performance later.

Tips & Warnings
  • Nail polish remover can irritate your skin. You should wear protective gloves if you have sensitive skin.
  • If you have allergies or breathing problems, take all the proper precautions when using nail polish remover to remove the permanent marker.
