Punk-chic is no longer a contradiction in terms. Rather, the use of stylish and trendy makeup is a great way to achieve a cute punk look that's also got a hard edge. Punk just looks spontaneous; there's a method to this makeup madness.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a specially designed punk makeup palette from a trusted makeup producer such as Hard Candy. The Hard Candy set is reasonably priced and will provide you with glosses, shimmers, a few different eyeliners and even a guidebook to help you experiment with punk makeup. If you don't want to buy a punk palette set, you should still get your makeup from high quality producers like MAC and Hard Candy.

  2. Step 2

Put on a foundation that is only slightly lighter than your natural skin tone. Unlike goth or grunge makeup palettes, you should keep the foundation smooth and even so it is only a minimal part of your punk makeup style.

  3. Step 3

Start out by applying eye makeup, such as a heavy black eyeliner. Then apply an eye shadow in a bold color, such as a blush red, a deep blue or even a simple gray. Start to mix the eye shadows to achieve more of a punk look, but in all cases make wide rings around your eyes with the eye shadow. Lastly, add a touch of mascara to keep your eyes dark.

  4. Step 4

Use a light colored lipstick that suits your natural colors. So, for instance, if your hair and features are dark, go for a deep purple lipstick and add a tinge of gloss to it. Blonds can wear red and even green lipsticks. Blot on a tissue after you apply the lipstick so you get a dulled, more subtle look that brings out the strong, dark color of the eyeliner and eye shadow.
