How to Apply Blur Effects in Fireworks

The blur effect in Adobe Fireworks CS3 is a gentle blur that can be applied overall to a selected image. If you would like to further blur the image, you can use the "Blur More" command.

Instructions

      Start Adobe Fireworks CS3. Open an image from your files or a Fireworks document that contains an image that you want to blur.

      Select the image that you would like to blur by clicking on the image. You will notice that the properties for the selected image will now be displayed on the "Properties" pane at the bottom of the screen.

      Click the "+" button that is to the right of the word "Filters" in the "Properties" pane to display a shortcut menu of filters that can be applied to the selected image.

      Choose the "Blur" option from the menu and then click on "Blur" from the submenu to blur the selected image. The image will be blurred slightly and the effect will be listed below the word "Filters" in the "Properties" pane.

      Click the "+" button, point to "Blur" from the shortcut menu and click on "Blur More" to further blur the selected image, if necessary.

      Continue to use the "Blur More" option from the menu to add more blur effects to the selected image.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't see the "Properties" pane at the bottom of the screen, choose the "Window" menu and click on "Properties."
