Barack Obama has a mass of curly, wiry hair that he keeps closely trimmed. Some earlier pictures of Barack Obama show a longer hairstyle that is just on the verge of qualifying as an afro. With wiry hair, cut short to the head, you, too, can sport the Obama hairstyle.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Compare your hair type to Barack Obama's hair type. Barack's hair is curly and wiry, a nod to his African American roots. Barack's hair is a medium black with touches of gray that are covered up.

  2. Step 2

Find a picture of Barack Obama, and bring it with you to your hair salon. Ask your stylist if your hair can be cut the same way.

  3. Step 3

Get your hair trimmed close to the head in the same way that Barack's hair is done.

  4. Step 4

Add a hair product designed for African American hairstyles that will add moisture and produce a slight shine.

  5. Step 5

Get your hair touched up to cover any gray. When Barack was on the road, Oprah sent over a hair stylist to maintain his hair and touch up the gray areas.

  6. Step 6

Maintain the Barack Obama hairstyle by getting a trim each week just as he does. Barack uses a salon in Hyde Park and has been going there for the last 15 years. The owner, Zariff, provides Obama's haircuts on a regular basis.

  7. Step 7

Find a barber who you are comfortable with and stick with him. One of the reason's Obama's hair looks good is because he has been going to the same stylist for many years, and he knows Obama's hair well.
