1
Brush your hair lightly with a natural bristled brush. When brushing start with the ends and work your way up. Brush very lightly at the scalp, as brushing the scalp may stimulate more oil production.
-
2
Wash your hair every other day. Washing too often forces your scalp to produce more oils and hinders your goal of making your hair less oily. When you wash your hair, gently massage the scalp for 2 minutes. This helps stimulate oil production during the washing process, and then you can wash the excess oil away with the shampoo.

Use a pH treatment after shampooing to wash away residue from the shampoo. Mix one part apple cider vinegar to three parts warm water. After shampooing, pour this evenly through your wet hair, massage into scalp, and rinse with cold water to make your hair less oily throughout the day.
-
4
Condition the ends of your hair only. Putting conditioner on the scalp will only hold moisture and oil in the scalp.
-
5
Blow dry your hair only when necessary, and do not concentrate the heat on the scalp. Blow dry the ends of your hair, on the lowest setting, and keep the air moving along your hair.

6
Try a dry shampoo or baby powder to combat oils between shampoos. Dust either of these onto the hair line and scalp of your hair, and lightly brush it through your hair.
