A baptism is a special event, regardless the age of the individual being baptised. It's even more special, when we include family and friends and gather afterward for a reception to celebrate the day. You can make it especially memorable by creating homemade baptism invitations with your own design.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Select the card stock for the invitations. Print two-up or four-up on die-cut stock with matching envelopes available at stationers and discount department stores. Purchase extra cards and envelopes.
Step2
Write a brief, appropriate message for the invitation that includes all the pertinent details of the event. Include some simple artwork, like a symbol of faith, or finish with a Bible verse set out in a different font.
Step3
Use an appropriate font when printing the invitations. Experiment with several before committing. Use a script version of a simple font, but shy away from elaborate script fonts that are difficult to read. Depending on the final choice, set the size at 10, 11 or 12.
Step4
Run a couple of test copies on plain paper before running the final copies. Check to make sure that the text is centered vertically and horizontally. Be sure to use spell check. Have someone proof read the final copy. Double check the spelling of names and make sure addresses are correct.
Step5
Check the printer before running the job. Make sure there is sufficient ink in the cartridge. Set the printer to print 2 or 3 invitations at a time (in case of a jam), rather than setting it to print all 50 in one run.
Step6
Hand address the envelopes with black or dark blue ink. Use the two-letter state abbreviation and the 5-digit postal code. Include a return address. Check with the post office to verify sufficient postage.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not wish to receive gifts, you may make a brief "in lieu of gifts" statement at the bottom of the invitation asking guests to donate to your favorite charity.
  • Search online for blank templates to create invitations or use a desktop publishing software that has a template for invitations. (See Resources)
