If you're fresh out of college, looking to start a carreer or just getting back on your feet after a difficult time, home can be the best place to live until you're ready to move on. You can keep the living situation good by remaining independent while still being a part of the family.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Get a good job. Pay your own bills without expecting any help from people at home.
Step2
Offer to pay rent and contribute to the other household bills. If you have special items you want around the house, purchase them yourself without relying on anyone else.
Step3
Act like a responsible, independent adult. Be honest and curteous of the other people in your home. Let someone know where you'll be and when you're expected home. Follow through with your promises. An independent adult can be trusted.
Step4
Clean up after yourself and pitch in with the general household chores. An independent adult is responsible for his own cleaning and maintenance.
Step5
Plan time away from your home. Get together with your friends on a regular basis. This allows you time away from the rest of the people in your home, and allows them some personal space of their own.
