Crap Cleaner, or CCleaner ,is a free tool available for download at the CCleaner website. Crap Cleaner is used to remove temporary files stored on your personal computer (PC), clean up unnecessary registry files, uninstall computer programs and manage start up programs. Use Crap Cleaner to delete unwanted start up programs and improve the start up time and efficiency of your PC.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Open CCleaner and check for updates using the link at the bottom right of the window. Updates provide more information about start up programs running on your PC so that you are able to make more informed decisions about which programs to delete.
Step2
Click on the "Tools" button or wrench icon in the Crap Cleaner menu.
Step3
Open the list of start up programs by clicking on the "Startup" button.
Step4
Read through the list of programs listed. If you do not recognize a program name, refer to the "File" column for the location of the program. Navigate to that location on your computer and open "Read me" files that offer more information on the program.
Step5
Determine if the program is trustworthy. Many start up programs are required for your PC to run properly and are located in the "system32" folder. Other programs are required for installed software to run properly, such as instant messengers and web cameras.
Step6
Delete non-trustworthy start up programs. Select the program in the list and press the "Delete Entry" button. Press "OK" when prompted to authorize the deletion.

Tips & Warnings

  • Deleted start up entries cannot be retrieved by CCleaner so be sure before you delete a program from the list.
