How to Apply Rain-X Automobile Windshield Treatment
Rain-X is a windshield treatment for your car that helps you see much better during rain, snow or sleet. Depending on the weather where you live, Rain-X can last as long as four months in one treatment. If you live where there is a lot of rain or snow, you'll need to treat your car windshield more often.

1
Clean both the inside and outside of your windshield the first time you apply Rain-X. Although Rain-X is applied to the outside of your windshield, a clean inside helps improve your vision even more. Use a good product to clean the windshield, make sure there are no streaks. Vinegar mixed with water and a small amount of soap will clean the windshield without streaks or use your favorite product to clean the windshield. Clean the windshield in a shady area to minimize streaks as well.
-
2
Rinse the cleaner off the windshield thoroughly so there is no soap residue. Dry the windshield or allow it to air dry.

3
Apply the Rain-X with a soft cloth to your clean windshield. Cover the whole windshield with the Rain-X and allow it to dry to a haze, like a light wax would dry to a haze.
-
4
Use a soft cloth to remove the Rain-X after it has dried. Drying time depends on the weather conditions at the time; if it's humid it will take longer for Rain-X to dry to a haze. Gently rub and buff the windshield until all the product is removed.
-
5
Repeat the application of Rain-X when necessary. If you live in a climate with a lot of rain or snow, you'll use the windshield wipers more and the Rain-X won't last as long. If used according to directions, the Rain-X helps rain fall in sheets off your windshield. When it rains, your vision is greatly improved by the sheeting action. If applied to the back window, the rain will also fall off in sheets if your window is slanted to any degree. Driving in the snow and rain is much easier if you continue to use Rain-X as directed.
