How to Download Xbox 360 Game Demos

One of the best things that Xbox LIVE has to offer (aside from Achievements) is the ability to download playable demos of games. It's nice to be able to test-drive a game before dropping that $60 on a possible dud. Downloading is very easy, although not that quick, depending on the size of the demo.

Things You'll Need:

• Xbox LIVE account with a Silver membership at minimum

1. Sign into your Xbox LIVE account. This is the only way to open up the Xbox Marketplace to download demos and purchase games and other game content.

2. Scroll over to the "Marketplace" tab from the Xbox Dashboard. Then select "Game Store," followed by "Game Demos."

3. Select either "New Arrivals," "Genres," or "All Game Demos." "New Arrivals," as it sounds, gives a list of the brand-new demos to recently hit the Xbox Marketplace. "Genres" allows you to search for demos based on gaming categories, such as "RPGs," "Puzzle," "Action" and the like. If you select "All Game Demos," you will get a list of all the demos Xbox Marketplace has in alphabetical order.

4. Select the game demo you wish download. Xbox will open up a new page, giving you more detailed information on the game and if it will cost you any Microsoft points. Since it is a demo, it will be free. Select the "Confirm Download" button.

5. Your download will begin, and you can watch its progress. However, if you'd like to play another game while the demo is downloading, select the "Continue" button at the bottom. LIVE will alert you when your download is complete. Check on your download at any time by going back to the "Marketplace" tab and selecting the "Active Downloads" button.

6. When your download is complete, scroll over to the "Games" tab in the Xbox Dashboard. Select "Games Library," and then "My Games." Scroll down the list for the demo you downloaded and select it. Your demo will load automatically without any install time. Enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

• Be sure to delete any demos you don't want or no longer need. They take up hard drive space and can cause problems for saving games in the future.
