How to Make Dogs Eat Tofu

Canines won’t drool over tofu, but you can get them to eat the stuff. You may need to make dogs eat tofu in a pinch, like when you forgot to buy dog food or you promised two beach dogs you’d bring lunch but you’re staying at a vegetarian resort. A few steps will have the dogs eating tofu, even if they don’t like it.

Things You’ll Need:

• Tofu
• Soy sauce or other flavor enhancer
• Hungry dogs

1. Cut the tofu into manageable pieces. Chucking a hunk of tofu in their general direction won’t get good results. Make sure it’s in those cute little squares or even smaller.
2. Enhance the non-flavor of the gooey, white bean curd with a dollop of soy sauce, gravy or even banana.
3. Mix the tofu with something more dog-friendly, like a glob of bread or seasoned rice.
4. Offer the tofu attractively, with a high-pitched “Yummy, yum, yum.” Eat a bite of it yourself first with a big, giant grin on your mug.
5. Make sure the dogs know that’s all you have. Turn your palms outward to show them your hands are empty, giving them the message they can eat the tofu or continue to starve.

Tips & Warnings

• Dogs eat dirt and rocks, for heaven’s sake. Don’t feel bad about feeding them tofu.
• Move back far enough so if the dogs really hate the tofu they cannot bite you in revenge.
