Begin by making a single chain rope of a length that will fit comfortably around the chest and shoulders. Crochet row one by making a chain of 3 stitches (this will count as your first double chain). In the fourth chain from your needle, double chain. Then, double chain in each single chain across the entire row. Remember to turn your work at the end of each row.

Crochet rows 2 to the end by crocheting a 3-stitch chain for the first double chain, then double chain in the top stitch of each double chain in the previous row.

Continue to work the dc into each stitch until it is the desired height. It should reach from the tip of your shoulder to the bend of your elbow. Then you can adjust it as the weather changes.

Bind the 2 ends together when the shawl is as tall as you want it. Do this by laying the shawl on a flat surface, twist one end, then match the ends. Stitch these together so that the stitch is not too obvious. Finish this project by crocheting a decorative edge such as a picot or scalloped edge along both sides of the shawl.

The full pattern is a long rectangle worked in double crochet as I understand it. Once finished, you put a single fold in it to create a moebius strip and sew the ends together. When laid flat, the back will lay flat and the front will have a single twist in it that when worn will be in the front of the shawl. I look forward to making this. Very basic crochet, though the instructions were a bit confusing at first.

First, double chain is actually double crochet(dc). Crochet a piece in dc in a rectangle when laid flat. Twist one end so that the bottom now is the top and the top is now the bottom. (Remember only one end gets the twist.)It will look similar to the letter B. Join (sew) the two ends together to form a circle. You will not be able to smooth the circle flat as it now has a twist in the middle of one side of the circle. I hope you now understand how to crochet your mobius shawl and will wear with pride because you created it with your own hands. -

ok so instead of saying chain three in the 4th chain from the hook, and double crochet in every stitch thereafter, whoever wrote this wanted to make the person try and guess what they meant. as far as instuction 4, I have absolutely no clue as to what you're supposed to do. Sew the ends together to make it round instead of open?? I don't get it.
