Step 1
Bring up the "frozen" application on your screen.

Go to the Apple in the menu bar at the top of the screen. The drop menu will give you an option to Force Quit.

Highlight the application that shows "not responding" in the dialog box.

Click the Force Quit button.

Right-click on the application from your dock. Most "frozen" applications will show you an option to Force Quit.

Hold down the Option key if the application in the dock does not already show a Force Quit option.

Click on Force Quit.

Press Option+Command+Esc to show the dialog box.

Step 2
Click on the application that shows "not responding."

Press Force Quit.
