How to Attend Summer Theatre Camp
When you attend a summer theatre camp, you will enjoy hours of working on your theatrical skills and meeting new friends who are interested in the theatre. You can even find a theatre camp focusing on all of the behind-the-scenes work it takes to make the show a success.

Go on stage at the Idyllwil Arts summer camp, focusing on various performance arts (see Resources below). Campers can choose from Theatre Production, Acting for the Camera, Song and Dance, Filmmaking for High School Filmmakers or Screenwriting Workshops. Idyllwil Arts offers two 3-week sessions for high school students to attend each summer.

Focus on cinematic and performance skills at the SOCAPA (School of Cinema and Performance Arts) summer camps (see Resources below). Youth camps work with young people aged 11 to 13, and teen camps work with kids aged 14 to 18. Camp classes focus on acting, filmmaking, dance and photography. SOCAPA locations can be found in New York City, Los Angeles, Vermont and London, England.

Become an actor when you attend the Pali Overnight Adventures camp in California (see Resources below). Campers aged 9 to 16 can join the Acting Academy to learn the art of acting from professional actors and directors. Learn how to be spontaneous, develop characters and work on scenes, monologues and improvisations. Pali Adventures camps also offer campers the opportunity to become a chef, dancer, fashion designer, stunt man, rock star, secret agent or spa princess.

Earn up to six college credits when you go to the Tisch theatre arts camp at New York University (see Resources below). High school students go through 4 weeks of intensive theatre training during the summer. Campers can focus on drama, dramatic writing, film and photography courses.

Spend up to 9 weeks at one of the oldest theatre camps in the United States at Ballibay (see Resources below). For over 43 years, campers aged 6 to 16 at Ballibay summer arts camp have worked on theatre training, technical theatre training, visual arts and dance. Campers also enjoy horseback riding, swimming and outdoor sports when not working on their craft.
