Remember the folded paper used as a “fortune teller” that you made as a child; well you can use a similar folding concept to create fabulous candy bowls out of scrapbook cardstock paper. These candy bowls can be used for almost any occasion. They are inexpensive and so easy to make; it will look like you spent hours instead of minutes creating these unique serving dishes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cardstock or heavy weight paper
  • Scrapbooking patterned paper
  • Parchment or wax paper (to line the bowl)
  • Adhesive
  • Bone folder
  • Scrapbook embellishments (ribbon, brads, stamps, stickers, etc.)

Step1
Cover a 12x12 piece of cardstock with parchment or wax paper. Glue the paper (parchment or wax) in place on the cardstock sheet. Then cover the other side of the cardstock with patterned paper or random stamp the cardstock ahead of time.
Step2
Next fold the paper diagonally in half on one side then open and fold it again in half diagonally on the other side and unfold.
Step3
Now turn the paper over so that the pattern is on the outside and fold each corner of the paper into the middle forming a perfect square.
Step4
Fold the square in half horizontally to form a rectangle and crease it with your bone folder, then unfold back to the square. Next fold the square vertically and crease it with the bone folder to form a permanent crease and unfold again.
Step5
Turn the square over and slide your finger under the flaps of the folds, then press the corners of the square and your finders to the middle to form pockets. Now place the candy bowls points down and bend the tips of the flaps to hold the holders open.
Step6
Fill with desired candy or snacks and serve.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can tie a bow around the bowl and/or the individual cups on your bowls.
  • Use brads or eyelets in the corners of the paper before you fold it into the bowls to add some decorations and hold the paper lining in place
  • These bowls can be used for dinner parties, birthday parties, bridal or baby showers and more.
  • Make sure the base of the bowl is made out of heavy weight paper so that it doesn’t collapse when you fill it with candy or other snacks.
