Heart shaped faces are ones that are wide at the temples and hairline, and tapers down to a small chin. Styling the hair correctly balances the face, accentuating the best parts and detracting from the fullness at the top.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Grow the hair out or keep it at least medium to long in length. Short hair accentuates the wide upper face, especially styles that are fuller on the top and taper at the neck.
Step2
Look for those cheekbones. Heart shaped faces generally have strong cheekbones and the right style can bring that out. These are the best asset of this face shape so flaunt them.
Step3
Cut the bangs to a side sweep and frame the face with wispy layers. Layers begin at the cheekbone or below and left choppy for a modern look.
Step4
Part long bangs in the middle and sweep them out allowing them to fall naturally. This cut includes multi-layers, but they are longer, beginning at the chin. The hairstyle is full of natural body and movement. The hair should look as though it is flowing off the head, cascading around the face and shoulders.
Step5
Accentuate the curl, especially if it's the natural state of the hair. The key is to keep the curl from creating height at the crown or sides of the face, which will only make the forehead, and sides of the face appear wider. Instead, put in a bang that flows with the curl of the hair and either cut it in chin length or longer. This creates fullness at the jaw line and the bangs help to frame the eyes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid slicked back hairstyles. This creates a severe look on heart shaped faces and draws attention directly to a pointy chin.
