Playing warm-up soccer games with your teammates prepares you for real-game situations. Unlike a regular soccer game, you play European handball with your hands, throwing a miniature ball. You focus more on communicating with your teammates as well as reading the field of play. Grab some friends, get moving and improve your soccer skills by learning how to play a simple warm-up game of European handball.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soccer ball
  • Small ball
  • Teammates or friends
  1. Step 1

Divide your group into two teams. Each team should have the same number of players, preferably with at least four on each side.

  2. Step 2

Set up a playing field about the size of a basketball court. Each team should have a marker placed on the ground where a regulation-size soccer ball rests. The object of the game is to knock the soccer ball off the marker with a smaller ball.

  3. Step 3

Determine which team should start with the smaller-size ball. You could use a regulation-size soccer ball, but a smaller-size ball is easier to handle. Each player can touch the ball with his or her hands, unlike a real soccer game.

  4. Step 4

Move the little ball down the field by passing it to your teammates. You are only allowed to take three steps before passing or aiming at the soccer ball on the marker. If the little ball touches the ground, the other team gains possession.

  5. Step 5

Knock over the soccer ball on the marker to earn one point. Continue practicing this warm-up game for about ten minutes or until players start losing interest.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to support your teammate who controls the ball at all times. This can be by communicating and spreading out to open up passing lanes.
  • Ball handling is an important part of this game. You should try to execute quick, accurate passes to provide the best scoring chances.
