Some people say that a happy mom makes for a happy household. However, moms have so many responsibilities that sometimes the day can seem overwhelming. Nevertheless, you can be a happier mom if you know how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Make friends with other moms. Friends can commiserate with you when you are feeling down, give you advice and share your joys. Befriend the moms of your child's friends and plan outings with them.
Step2
Reconnect with your spouse. Hire a babysitter so you can go out on a date with your spouse. Set time aside to spend together in the evening after your children are asleep. Spend time together whenever you can.
Step3
Keep your own interests. If you had interests in cooking, reading, scrapbooking, gardening or anything else before becoming a mom, keep active with them and maintain your sense of self.
Step4
Draft a schedule to give structure to your day. A schedule will help keep you from feeling overwhelmed by your many tasks. Checking things off the schedule will also make you feel as if you have accomplished something.
Step5
Be flexible. Know that being a mom means that things will not always go as planned. You'll be dealing with tantrums and messes regularly so be ready for the interruptions. Accept that things aren't always predictable and shrug it off when things don't turn out the way you intended. Find humor in the moment and take a picture of the mess to laugh at later.
Step6
Ask for help. If you feel overwhelmed, ask your spouse or someone you know to lend a hand. Knowing your limitations and what you need help with will make you a happier mom.
Step7
Check out "Mothers Day Out" programs at local churches. It's an inexpensive way to have a break from the kids and to make some time for yourself.
