One of the biggest problems people have when they set up their home theater system is how to keep the unsightly cables out of view. With a few simple steps you can have the home theater system you have always wanted, while your friends wonder where the cables are.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Organize your home theater cables by using twist ties or zip ties to keep them neatly bound together. Place a tie every 12 inches along the length of the cables.

  2. Step 2

Lift up your carpet and run the cables underneath. This is the easiest way to conceal cables and requires minimal work.

  3. Step 3

Tape the wires along the wall using tape that is the same color as your walls. This is a good solution if you are only trying to hide cables for a few feet.

  4. Step 4

Run the cables through the attic, down one wall to your audio system and down another wall to the speaker. A bent coat hanger will help you fish the wire out of the wall and through the discrete hole you drill in the drywall. If you have the right tools and you don't mind hard work this is the best way to hide home theater cables.

Tips & Warnings
  • Label all of your cords and cables when you set up your home theater system. If you ever have to unhook something to replace it you won't have to fumble with cords trying to figure out which one is the correct cord.
  • If you have cords that run along the floor that can pose a tripping hazard you can use a cable hide to protect them.
  • Flat, wide cables work best for hiding under carpets and along baseboards.
