How to Throw a Jab and Cross Combo in Boxing

Boxing's jab and cross combo stuns an opponent with the quick jab and follows up with the knockout powered cross. The boxing combo is simple, fast and powerful enough to devastate any opponent if you perform it correctly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up in your boxing stance with your strong hand set back and your leg on the same side slightly behind your hips. Make sure your feet are wider than shoulder width. Place your front, jab hand up by your face and bend your front leg slightly.

  2. Step 2

Step forward with your front foot if your opponent moves away from you and then slide your back foot a pace forward to get back into a stable stance. If your opponent moves toward you, step back one step with your back foot and slide your front foot back.

  3. Step 3

Throw your jab quickly and bring it back to your guarded position. Go for speed and accuracy, aiming for your opponent's nose or, if his nose is guarded, any open area of the face.

  4. Step 4

Hit with the cross by punching straight and across your body with your back hand. Allow your back hips and shoulders to pivot toward your opponent to add extra power to the punch. Bring your backhand back to its guard position as soon as you can.
