Choreography of belly dancing has no real set pattern or rules. Some dancers stick with moves they know and do them in a logical procession, while others go with the music and the flow and take cues from other dancers and the audience. If you'd like to combine Egyptian belly dancing moves, follow these steps to make the most of your belly dancing routines.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Listen to the music. There's no right or wrong way to belly dance, so by listening to the music, you can decide when you want to do certain steps. Strong instruments like drums and cymbals pair nicely with hip snaps. Flutes work great with arm movements, and faster cadences are great for step touches and moving around the room.

  2. Step 2

Watch those around you. If you're belly dancing in a group, you'll begin to notice patterns from the other dancers. Many dancers follow hip snaps with a figure eight, since the audiences eyes are already on the torso region. Others enjoy moving around the room and engaging the audience. Watch others around you and try to emulate the way they combine their belly dancing moves.

  3. Step 3

Feel the music. Since belly dancing is an expressive art form, you'll eventually get to a point where you stop thinking about the movements altogether and do what feels right to you. You'll find yourself dancing for hours without thought of technique or particular moves, just letting your body become one with the music.
