Step 1
Listen to "Welcome to the Jungle" a couple of times before you start playing. This will tune your ear to the sound that you are supposed to find, which will make it easier to tell if you are off a note or not plucking at the correct speed.

Step 2
Set your delay pedal to triplets. The first riff is based around the open D string. Strum this a few times to get a feel for it and let the delay pedal do its job. This is the intro of the song.

Step 3
Start the first riff on the fourth fret of the G string. You will strum each note three times and end with the open D. The next notes are: second fret on G, fourth fret on D, second fret on D and fourth fret on A. Do these slowly and run through it a couple of times.

Step 4
Take it up to speed and see how it sounds. It is a difficult riff, so go through it a few times. Practice is essential to learning to play any new song, especially one alternating picking and other difficult techniques.
