Set the intensity of the laser by first testing a very small patch of skin. Generally, lower settings are designed for people with very fair skin and who are susceptible to sunburns, while the higher settings are reserved for those with darker complexions and a history of tanning easily. If you experience redness or discomfort during this test, lower the intensity of the laser.

Wash the treatment area with cool water and soap before you use the Rio Home Laser Hair Removal Kit. Dirty skin could affect the way the laser penetrates the skin.

Place the laser gun near your skin and press the laser activation button. You may feel a slight pinprick sensation with thicker hairs. Take care not to go over any one area repeatedly.
