Step 1
Take an angled stance with a stable base by spreading your feet to shoulder width and then rotating one side of your body 30 degrees forward. Allow your torso to sink back so that your center faces your opponent. Outstretch your forward hand about 70 percent of full extension and place your back hand somewhere near the midpoint of your forward arm.

Step 2
Stay loose and in motion so you can strike quickly when you see that an opponent is about to launch an attack. If the opponent moves to punch with his rear hand, as he likely will, step forward with your forward foot, followed by your back foot, and execute a lightning fast jab with your forward hand. Keep your fist aligned in a knuckles-vertical position.

Step 3
Kick to an opponent's midsection with a sidekick to intercept the fist by bringing your back leg to replace your front leg's position as you raise your front leg and kick sideways from the hip. Primary targets are the stomach, thighs and shins since these targets don't require an unstable high kick.

Jeet Kune Do teaches the main principle Longest Weapon to the Closest Target. Through this, you learn your best intercepting techniques would be:
