How to Wash Floor Mats
If your auto's floor mats are looking a little worse for wear, if they have a layer or two of dirt and grime, or if you've spilled your coffee or soda on then too many times, don't rush out and buy a pair of expensive new mats. They can be cleaned to look nearly like new with a little soap and a lot of elbow grease.

Hang the auto floor mats on a fence or clothesline. Shake them or slap the backs to remove any gravel and loose dirt.

Mix some mild detergent and warm water in a bucket to wash the mats. Use a stiff brush and extra soap to scrub any stubborn stains. Apply some spot remover if the soap and water don't remove stains.

Vacuum the mats thoroughly, including the edges and corners. Vacuum one direction, then vacuum across the other way. This will pull up more dirt and grime from the nap of the mat.

Rinse the mats with a garden hose until the water runs clear.

Allow the mats to remain hanging until they are completely dry, at least 24 hours, before replacing them in your vehicle.

Spray carpet protector on the clean, dry mats. They will not only shed soil and look clean longer, but will also be much easier to clean next time.
Never put auto floor mats in a washing machine or clothes dryer. The heat will probably ruin your mats and may also damage your washing machine and dryer.
