Origami is a paper folding art form used to create everything from animal shapes to boxes. Origami projects can be detailed with several difficult folds, or they can be rather simple to accomplish. Follow these steps to make a whole origami pig.

From Quick Guide: Making Origami Animals
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Fold a square piece of origami paper in half and crease the fold. Open the paper and fold the top edge of the paper down to meet the crease. Fold the bottom edge of the paper up to the crease so the original top and bottom edges meet.

  2. Step 2

Bend each corner of the origami paper toward the middle to form triangles. Crease each fold and open each triangle. Make the creases from the triangle folds the new inside edges of triangles twice as large as the original triangles.

  3. Step 3

Turn the origami paper over and fold along the creased line down the length of the paper. All four triangles should face outward.

  4. Step 4

Make legs for your origami pig when you fold each triangle over on itself at the halfway mark. The inside edge of the triangles lie against the crease mark left from the original triangle folds.

  5. Step 5

Form the snout for your origami pig with a fold at one end of the paper. Bring the tip of the paper up sideways and fold the end of it into the opening between the two halves of the pig.

  6. Step 6

Fashion a tail for your origami pig with two folds at the other end of the paper. Unfold the main body of your pig and fold in the tail end. Fold the tip of this fold back out toward the back end and refold the main crease.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may have to adjust the tail end slightly until you get it just right.
