Things You'll Need:
- Mouthwash
- Dental floss
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Tongue scraper
-
Step 1
Rinse your mouth using a strong, effective mouthwash that kills germs. Swish the mouthwash around and underneath your tongue. This will help also to prevent odor.
-
Step 2
Use a piece of floss to scrape your tongue after you have used the mouthwash. Start at the back of the tongue and pull forward with the floss until it reaches the tip of the tongue. Do this at least two to four times for a thorough cleaning before discarding or using another piece of floss.
-
Step 3
Take your toothbrush, apply a small amount of toothpaste and with circular motions, clean the tongue. Go as far back on the tongue as you can without gagging. When you're finished, rinse your mouth out again with mouthwash rinse to wash away the tongue scrapings and film.
-
Step 4
Scrape your tongue with a tongue scraper device. Shaped like a hook, this device is used to pull germs from the tongue. Place your tongue through the hole on the tongue scraper and pull it forward in a dragging motion. Rinse the tongue scraper off and scrape the tongue again for a total of at least four to five times. Don't pull too hard as this will make the tongue sore.
-
Step 5
Wash the tongue scraper with soap and warm water. Store it in a dry place.
