How to Rate Movies on Netflix

By eHow Internet Editor
Rate: (4 Ratings)

Netflix's rating system allows members to rate movies based on their preferences and responds by cataloging responses and suggesting movies that the member might enjoy. Start rating movies to take the first step towards finding more movies to enjoy.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Log on to your Netflix account using your email and password. If you don't have a Netflix account, you must register with Netflix before taking advantage of its rating features.

  2. Step 2

Select a film to watch and put it in your Queue.

  3. Step 3

    Receive and watch your movie.

  4. Step 4

Sign onto Netflix and access your Queue.

  5. Step 5

Scroll to the "At Home" section.

  6. Step 6

Locate your movie's title and the corresponding "Star Rating" system next to it.

  7. Step 7

Click on the first red star if you "hated" the movie, the second if you "didn't like it," the third if you "liked it," the fourth if you "really liked it" and the fifth if you "loved it." Once your rating has been completed, the red star will turn to gold.

  8. Step 8

Access the "Movies You'll Love" section to check the number of movies you've rated and to see suggestions based on your ratings. Rate all movies you see with Netflix and movies that you see elsewhere. Click on the "Movies You've Rated" tab to see a detailed list of your rated movies and their star rating. Choose sorting options or clear ratings.

  9. Step 9

Update ratings later on if you watch a movie again and have a different reaction to it. Simply click on the star of your choice to change your rating of it.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may also rate movies that you watch instantly on the website.
  • Don't allow others' users ratings to sway your opinion. Your personal ratings on Netflix help the company determine what movies it should recommend for you to watch.
  • There is no neutral option in the star rating system. Avoid mistaking the middle star for a neutral rating, as the result may cause Netflix to recommend movies that you don't like.
