If you can crochet basic stitches, you can make a toilet seat cover for your bathroom. Once you pick a color that complements your bathroom decor, you're ready to work. By following the pattern below, you can make a nice toilet seat cover. However, if you're more experienced at crochet, the pattern is simple enough that you can modify it to make it more difficult.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Heavy weight rug yarn
  • Size J crochet hook
  • Measuring tape
  • Elastic
  • Needle and thread
  1. Step 1

Chain four stitches and join them with a single crochet stitch. This will give you your starting loop for as you crochet your bathroom toilet seat cover.

  2. Step 2

Push your needle through the center of the ring and complete one double crochet. Do this 14 more times. Then join the first double crochet with the last one. Chain 2 and turn.

  3. Step 3

Increase to begin the shape of a toilet seat cover. Crochet 2 double crochets in one stitch on the previous row. Crochet 1 double crochet in each of the next two stitches. Repeat until you have a circle that measures 8 inches across.

  4. Step 4

Continue increasing in a new pattern. Take 2 stitch markers, mark the stitch 4 stitches away from your needle and the stitch directly across from the one you just marked.

  5. Step 5

Crochet 2 double crochets in one stitch, than 1 double crochet. Repeat this pattern until you are four stitches away on the other side of the marker. As you go around you piece, make sure you increase by 4, evenly. When you approach the second marker, repeat the pattern this Step began with.

  6. Step 6

Crochet several rows without increases. The number of rows you will crochet depends on whether your piece is beginning to curl. Crochet as many rows as necessary to relax your toilet seat cover into a flat shape.

  7. Step 7

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 until you have a flat piece of yarn that is 1 and 1 half inch wider in all directions than your toilet seat.

  8. Step 8

Sew your elastic around the edge of your seat cover. To do this, stretch out the elastic while you sew. This way when you let go, the elastic will retract, and the edge of your toilet seat cover will pinch in.

  9. Step 9

Add your new toilet seat cover to your bathroom, and enjoy.
