How to Install and Manage Banner Ads on a Joomla Website

A great way to earn extra revenue by selling Banner ad space to advertisers on your Joomla website. It is easy to add, remove or change banner adds on your web site. Read on to learn how to install and manage banner ads on your website.

Install Banner Ads on Your Joomla Website

1. Obtain banner ad from a client who would like to ad space. The client's file will have to be in.gif or .jpg or format. Log into your Joomla administrator panel. On the main menu, click "Site." In the drop-down menu, click on "Media Manager."
2. In Joomla's Media Manager, click on "Directory" and select "banners" from the drop-down menu. Click on "Browse" and then select your client’s ad. Click "Open" to upload the file. Click "Components" and then on "Banners." Next, select Manage Clients.
3. Click on "New" to create a new client. Fill out your client’s information, including the desired time period and number of clicks, as well as the following:
   
   *If you sold banner ad space for a specific period of time, enter that period for the banner ad to appear on your website.
   *If you sold the ad space based on a specific amount of clicks, allot that number of clicks as the maximum number the banner ad will receive before it is disabled.
   *If you did not sell a limited number of clicks to your client, select “unlimited” in the relevant field.
   
   Click "Save" to save your client’s information.
4. Display your client's banner ads by clicking "Components" in the main menu, click "Banners" and then " Manage Banners." Click "New" and enter the title of the banner ad. Select the client and then enter the client's web address. Choose the ad file and click "Save."
5. Check the column that reads “Published.” Ensure that a check mark rather than an "X" marks it. If there is an "X," change it to a check mark. And you are done!

6. Click "Components" in the main menu, click "Banners" and then "Manage Banners."
7. Remove a banner ad by checking the box in front of it. To simply stop displaying the ad, click the "Unpublish" icon at the top right of the page. To completely remove it, click "Delete" instead.
8. Add a banner ad by clicking "New" and entering the necessary information. Choose the ad file and click "Save." Note: use the "Upload" button if you are adding new banner image.
9. Add or remove clients by clicking the " Components" link in the main menu. Click "Banners" and then "Manage Clients."

Tips & Warnings

• The website you enter in Step #4 is the site to which your web visitors will be directed when they click on the client's banner ad.
