How to build a 2x4 coffee table

Need a quick, easy and inexpensive solution to your coffee table need? Here's a beautiful table built using only 2x4s.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • (4) 10 foot long 2x4s
  • Wood screws
  • Wood filler
  • sander
  • tape measure
  • circular saw
  • stain or paint
  • clear coat finish
  1. Step 1

    Make these cuts:
    6 pieces @ 39 inches
    2 pieces @ 32 inches
    4 pieces @ 16 inches
    2 pieces @ 13 inches

  2. Step 2

    Sand all surfaces

  3. Step 3

    Build the frame. Attach the 32 inch pieces and the 13 inch pieces to the tops of the 16 inch pieces so that you have a 35 inch x 19 inch rectangle that stands 16 inches high.

  4. Step 4

    Attach the 39 inch pieces to the top of the frame. Allow 2 inches to overhang both ends and 1 inch to overhang each side of the frame.

  5. Step 5

    Fill in all holes with wood filler. And spot sand smooth.

  6. Step 6

    Paint or stain to your liking. Finish with a couple of coats of clear.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never paint or stain without proper ventilation.
