Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A library card
- Discount membership to a book store
Step1
Go to the library! Do you have memories of looking forward to library trips as a child? Take advantage of your local library, but remember to return the books you borrow on time!
Step2
Turn off the television! It is so easy to get sucked into the latest reality show or sitcom. Try spending more time in the rooms of your home that don't contain a television. Consider removing the television from your bedroom, so you will be more inclined to reach for a book.
Step3
Can't decide what to read? Peruse book reviews in magazines, or on websites like Amazon. Consider reading some of the classics that you may have skipped in school. Was you favorite film based on a novel or a historical account? Try reading the book and discovering the details that the movie may have missed.
Step4
Obtain books that truly interest you, not just the ones that you feel you should be reading. It is great to read the latest bestseller, but you may also be interested in a historical novel, a do-it-yourself manual or a travel guide.
Step5
Join a book club! Book clubs are an excellent way to discover books you may not necessarily choose yourself, and a nice way to gather with friends and discuss book details you may not have noticed.
Step6
Don't be afraid to put a book down if you are not enjoying it. There are millions of books in the world--nobody can possibly read them all! If after a few chapters you find that a book is just not your cup of tea, simply put it down and start another.
