How to Reset the Change Oil Soon Light on a 2002 Buick Century
The 2002 Buick Century has a computer system that will warn you about various problems when they occur. One of the regular maintenance requirements it monitors is the engine oil and oil filter. If your "Change Oil Soon" light stays on after you start the car, it is time to service the oil and oil filter. You should do this as soon as possible after you see the light. It does not matter if you do it yourself or have a professional do it. This is the most significant part of the process, but if you do not reset the "Change Oil Soon" light; it will not function properly. When it is not reset, it is not capable of monitoring your oil system.

Tips & Warnings
The monitoring system tracks the engine temperature and the number of engine revolutions, not the actual mileage. The system figures the life expectancy of the oil according to the individual driving conditions.
It is very important to always reset the "Change Oil Soon" light, after the oil and oil filter have been replaced. You should not reset it, if this requirement has not been completed. The system will not work properly, if you do.
