Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Gather all of the ingredients and measuring cups. Here you will also need to make sure that the apples are peeled, cored and chopped. Also, in the small mixing bowl you need to mix 2 tsps. of sugar with ¼ tsp. of cinnamon to make the "cinnamon sugar" unless you have the store bought kind that is premixed.

    • 2

Combine all of the filling ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

    • 3

Prepare Phyllo dough. Place the stacked sheets of Phyllo dough on a flat surface. Cut the dough lengthwise in three wide strips about 4 inches wide. Keep the dough covered with a damp paper towel so that it doesn't dry out.

    • 4

Make the turnovers. Place one strip of Phyllo dough on a flat clean work surface and lightly coat the strip with the cooking spray. Top with a second strip of dough. Pile one heaping teaspoon of filing at one end of the dough about an inch from the corner. Now, fold the opposite corner at the same end over the filling forming a triangle shape. Continue folding and wrapping up the strip folding a flag until the end. Use this process to make the other turnovers.
