Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Friends (age 18 and older)
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Hat or bowl
  1. Step 1

Make a guest list and send out invitations. On the invitation, take time to write a little more than the usual invite. This is a unique party that may sound a little intimidating. Explain what will be expected of each guest so there isn’t any confusion when it comes time for the party. Each guest will need to bring a story already written without their name on it. Also, take time to list some ground rules for the party. You can use the following ones or you can make your own. Stories should be 1500 words or less. Names should not appear on the story. Everything discussed in the stories need to stay in the party.

  2. Step 2

When your guests arrive at your party, have them deposit their stories into an envelope.

  3. Step 3

After mingling for a little while, have your guests gather in one room. Make each guest pick a story from the envelope. As the stories come out, assign each one a letter. This will make it easy for voting later.

  4. Step 4

Once every guest has pulled a story from the envelop, review the rules. Also, let everyone know that they have two votes for best story. Start with letter A and have the guest holding this story read it out loud. Reading the stories out loud make for more interactive party.

  5. Step 5

When the last story is done being read, have each guest briefly recap the story they read. From there take tallies of votes on each story. The story with the most votes, wins.
