you begin your initial edit with your imported clip files, you may discover a clip or two that needs its length adjusted. You can do that by changing the frame rate of the clip, or by adjusting its speed with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You can use the Interpret Footage command to change the frame rate that Adobe Premiere Pro assumes for a clip. Go to "File" and then "Interpret Footage." Select a "Frame Rate" option and click on "OK." Changing the frame rate by increasing or decreasing it, adjusts the duration proportionally.

  2. Step 2

If you have a 10-second, 24-fps clip and change it to 48 fps, it will become half as long, and its new length will be 5 seconds.

  3. Step 3

You may also change the clip’s speed and duration by going to "Clip," and then "Speed/Duration." First click on the clip in the Project panel or in the Timeline panel.

  4. Step 4

In the window that opens, increase or decrease the speed by a percentage or by time. Click "OK."

  5. Step 5

Go to "Sequence," and then "Render Work Area." This will give you a preview of the clip if it is already in the Timeline. If you like the result, save your work. If not, go to "Edit," and then "Undo."
