Sandpaper is a tool many scrappers use to enhance the look of their scrapbooking creations. Stamped images can be highlighted with sandpaper to craft a beautiful presentation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fine sandpaper
  • Stamps
  • Ink
  • Scrapbook paper (cardstock)
  1. Step 1

Stamp your image(s) on a piece of heavy weight paper (cardstock works well).

  2. Step 2

Lay the paper with your stamped image on a foam pad and cover it with wax paper (this will prevent tearing).

  3. Step 3

Trace over the entire stamped image with an embossing stylus to create a raised impression.

  4. Step 4

Turn the stamped image over and sand the raised picture with a fine grain sandpaper.

  5. Step 5

Display the distressed picture on your scrapbooking layout.

Tips & Warnings
  • Scrapbooking cardstock that has a white core works best with this technique because you can see a color contrast on the sanded image.
  • Make sure your sandpaper is extremely fine (1200 grit or higher) otherwise you may damage the cardstock.
  • Once you have sanded the stamped image you can add some subtle color with ink, chalk or colored pencils to enhance the sanded picture.
  • When tracing over the stamped image, press firmly to get a raised impression but be careful to keep the wax paper in place so you don’t damage the cardstock underneath.
  • The foam pad can be slippery so go slow and be precise.
