How to Add Items to the Quick Launch Toolbar in Windows XP

Windows XP includes the Quick Launch bar as part of the Taskbar. The Quick Launch toolbar provides a quick way for you to leave all of your favorite applications in one area for easy access. The bar also accommodates other items, such as folders. Placing a folder in the Quick Launch bar lets you quickly open Windows Explorer with the specified folder.

Instructions

    • 1

Open up Windows Explorer by clicking on the "My Computer" icon in the "Start" menu. If you want to add a folder to the Quick Launch bar, navigate to the folder.

    • 2

Double-click the C: local drive to open it. Double-click the "Programs" folder.

    • 3

Double-click the folder containing the program you want to add. Click and drag the program to the Quick Launch bar. To add a folder, click and drag the folder instead.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add as many items as you wish.

  • Do not overcrowd the toolbar. The icons don't include labels so it'll be difficult to figure out which icon belongs to which program if they look unfamiliar.
