How to Open a WPS File

WPS is the format used by the Microsoft Works word processor. You would either need a converter or the original program to view the contents. Here is how you can do so.

Things You'll Need:

• Microsoft Word

1. Download the Works 2000 to Microsoft Word converter (see Resources below for link).

2. Install and launch the application.

3. Once that is done, open up Microsoft Word.

4. 

   Click on "File" and then "Open."

5. Under File Type, scroll down to the WPS file format and select that.

6. Navigate to the folder that you have stored the WPS file in and double-click on it. Your file will now be opened.

7. 

   Save it as a DOC file format if you choose to.

Tips & Warnings

• WPS is an outdated format. You should definitely convert all files to at least DOC format.
