Instructions

    • 1

Remain calm. While it may be difficult to refrain from retaliating when your coworker says or does something malicious, you must keep your composure. Losing your cool will let your coworker know that she is bothering you, and she may try to make you look like the bad one. If you feel like exploding, go into another room and take a few deep breaths.

    • 2

Speak to her in private, instead of making a scene in front of everyone. Look her in the eyes and tell her that you don't appreciate her malicious behavior. Give her examples of times she has been malicious. For example, say, "The way you have been treating me is not nice, and I want it to stop. I deserve to be treated with respect and kindness."

    • 3

Say or do something kind. Tell her that you liked her ideas at the last meeting, or that her new haircut looks nice. Hold the door open for her, or give her a hand when she has a lot to carry.

    • 4

Recognize that she may not change her ways no matter what you do or say. If you tried to be nice and she still hasn't changed her behavior, move on. Ignore her actions, and concentrate on your work.
