How to Make Diabetic Sweet and Sour Sauce

If you like sweet and sour sauce but cannot have the natural sugar, here is a recipe that uses artificial sweetener.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. aspartame artificial sweetener
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 8.5 ounce can pineapple chunks in no-sugar-added juice, drained
  • Saucepan
  1. Step 1

    Combine water, ketchup, white vinegar and soy sauce and mix well. Stir in pineapple chunks.

  2. Step 2

    Sprinkle in cornstarch while stirring.

  3. Step 3

    Cook while stirring over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Continue cooking and stirring for 2 more minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Remove from heat and stir in aspartame artificial sweetener.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with turkey meatballs for a healthy meal.
  • If you like onions in your sweet and sour sauce you can add chopped onion when adding the pineapple.
