Things You'll Need:
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 2 cups bleach

Step 1
Let the tub basis of your washing machine fill with water, leaving the lid up.

Add 2 cups of white vinegar to the washing machine.

Step 3
Allow the washing machine to sit there with the water and vinegar in it for 1 hour.

Step 4
Restart the washer and let it go through a full wash and rinse cycle.

Step 5
One the cycle is done, open the washer, let it refill again with water and put in 2 cups of bleach.

Step 6
Allow the washing machine to sit there with the water and bleach in it for 1 hour.

Step 7
Restart the washer and let it go through a full wash and rinse cycle.

on 7/4/2009 This method for de-stinking the washing machine worked really well for me. Switching to a powder detergent and using dryer fabric softener sheets also helps reduce the build-up that causes this stink in the HE machines.
