Tips & Warnings
This recipe produces ten beverages, but can be doubled to serve more.
When choosing a pomegranate, look for an unblemished fruit that is heavy for its size. The larger the fruit, the better developed and sweeter the flesh inside.
For fresh pomegranate juice, cut the fruit in half and use a juicer to extract the juice needed for your margaritas. One large pomegranate can produce 1/3 cup of juice.
If you end up with more pomegranate juice than you need, store it in your freezer for your next party. It is good for 6 months.
The recipe also works with bottled pomegranate juice if you want to save some time and avoid the hassle of extracting the juice yourself. However, always use fresh juice for the optimum results.
For fresh lime juice, look for limes that are bright green without large blemishes. Extract the juice with a juicer or by hand by squeezing a lime half with one hand and using your free hand to prevent seeds from falling in the mixture.
