1. Rub your cat in a petting motion to make her comfortable.

2. Turn the clippers on and let the cat get used to the vibration and humming sound.

3. Read the style guide if one comes with your animal clippers. At the very least read the instructions on how to use the accessories.

4. Placate your cat-let the cat tell you how she feels. Your cat can make this a difficult or easy cut.

5. Push the plastic clip on the razor that is for long hair. The first round of shaving will be to get the excessive hair off.

6. Retrieve the next plastic clip and after you brush the hair from the clipper blade, attach it.

7. Listen to your cat-keep the experience comfortable for both of you. If the cat is shredding you to pieces, you need to stop immediately.

• Cat scratches are a sign of trauma and forcing a cat to do something it does not want.

• Only a bully and someone who does not care or understand animals will force their cat to have its hair cut.
