A 3D (three dimensional) logo can be an impressive addition to your business stationery. While it looks difficult it's not. You can use Photoshop to create a 3D logo for just about anything. Start with a simple example and then you can apply the design principle to a more complex logo.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Photoshop. Open a new image with a fairly large canvas. Draw a simple shape for your sample logo on the new layer you just opened. For the best results draw and fill your 3D logo shape in black.

  2. Step 2

Shape the logo to allow for perspective. To do this, click on "Main Menu." Select "Edit," "Transform" and "Skew. Pull on the bottom corners to easily make the perspective change. Press "Enter" to complete this step.

  3. Step 3

Reduce the height of the image. Open the "Free Transform" menu. Choose "Scale." Reduce the height of the logo just a bit. Center the logo in the Photoshop workspace when you finish this step.

  4. Step 4

Emboss the edges of the logo. From the "Main Menu" select "Filter." Next choose "Stylize." Finally select "Emboss." Pick "90" for the angle and "5" for the pixels. Click on "OK" when your finish setting the properties.

  5. Step 5

Make the 3D effect. Select the layer with your logo. Hold down the "Crtl" and "Alt" keys. Press the "Up" arrow key. This shortcut duplicates layers. Try about ten layers to start.

  6. Step 6

Merge the layers together. Select the top layer. Press "Crtl" and "E" simultaneously. This merges each layer one at a time. Repeat enough times to merge all the layers but don't merge the 3D logo into the background.

  7. Step 7

Create one more new layer. Hold the "Ctrl" key down while you click on the "Layers" panel. This selects and highlights your logo on the Photoshop canvas. Make one more layer. This time chose the "Paint Bucket" tool. Pick a color for your logo and fill the empty layer. From the "Layer" panel, switch the layer type from "Normal" to "Color." Merge everything one last time.
