Doing crafts with children helps you to bond with them while expanding their minds. Using cardboard egg cartons to make an egg carton camel is a wonderful way to spend time with your child or grandchild. Use these steps to make a camel.
Cut 2 cups from the egg carton. Cut them in a way that they stay together, side by side.
2
Make 4 holes with scissors or a toothpick, two on each side, evenly spaced, at the base of the cups for the legs to go through. Also make a hole in the end of each cup for the neck and tail.
3
Use the tip of the scissors or toothpick to make a small hole in the wide end of the cork.
4
Insert a pipe cleaner into each of the four holes for the legs and one for the tail. Bend a small section of each pipe cleaner flat inside the cup and tape it to keep secure. Bend approximately 1 inch in a flattened circle on the other end to make the camel's feet.
5
Screw one end of a pipe cleaner into the cork. Use a gentle twisting motion so that the pipe cleaner is kept mostly straight. Put the other end into one hole at the front of the egg cups and secure it with tape. Bend the pipe cleaner to look like a camel neck.
6
Ball up a piece of tin foil and tape it inside the cup nearest the tail to keep your camel from falling forward on its face.
7
Glue or draw on eyes, then draw on a mouth on the narrow end of the cork to make the camel's face. Paint your camel's body brown.
Tips & Warnings
If the legs are too flimsy to stand on their own, braid three pipe cleaners together and use those for the legs.
Always supervise a child when working with scissors or other sharp objects.
